I wanted to share some thoughts about why I firmly believe in the resurrection of Jesus and why it should matter to all of us. I know this topic often comes with many objections, but I think the evidence is credibility itself and completely changes everything for believers.
First, let’s look at what the Bible says. In 1 Corinthians 15:3–8 (ESV), Paul lays out the core of our gospel message:
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. And last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.”
Here, Paul isn’t just talking about any resurrection story; he’s telling us that the risen Christ was seen by many people. Over 500 people witnessed Him after He was raised, which isn’t something easily fabricated.
Then there’s the testimony of the empty tomb. The Gospel of Matthew gives us clear evidence in Matthew 28:5–6 (ESV):
“But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.’”
These words remind us that Jesus’ tomb was found empty, which aligns perfectly with His predictions and fulfills the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah.
The physicality of His resurrection is another convincing piece. In Luke 24:39 (ESV), Jesus makes it clear:
“See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.”
This wasn’t just a vision or a spiritual message—Jesus showed His disciples His actual, physical wounds. This encounter transformed doubting disciples into bold witnesses.
We see consistent eyewitness accounts, the stark evidence of the empty tomb, and the undeniable physicality in the risen Christ. These are not isolated pieces of evidence; they build a compelling case confirming that Jesus truly rose from the dead. If the resurrection is true, then the entire foundation of our faith—Jesus’ victory over sin and death—stands firm. It means that our hope is not based on a myth, but on a historical event, a miraculous intervention by our loving and powerful God.
I invite everyone in our forum to consider these points. Look again at the scriptural accounts—they’re clear and consistent. Let’s continue to share and defend the truth of the resurrection, not just with emotional appeal, but with the solid foundation of God’s Word.
What are your thoughts or experiences regarding this evidence? I’d love to hear and discuss further how each piece of evidence reinforces our victorious hope in Christ’s resurrection.
